Swarovski Foundation Launches N35 Million Prize for Young Creatives to Drive Sustainable Solutions

The Swarovski Foundation has announced a €20,000 (N35 million) prize for young innovators working towards sustainability through its “Creatives for Our Future” program.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnership, aims to provide financial support, mentorship, and global networking opportunities to young creatives in fields such as fashion, architecture, design, and engineering.

The program seeks to inspire innovative solutions that address global challenges while promoting sustainable development.

With applications open until October 15, 2024, the program targets individuals between 21 and 30 years old who are already working on projects or products that contribute to sustainability.

By providing financial support and access to educational resources, the initiative hopes to reduce crime rates and increase job opportunities for youth.

“Creativity has the power to solve global challenges and achieve sustainability goals,” stated Jakhya Rahman-Corey, Director of the Swarovski Foundation, as she emphasized the importance of fostering youth-led innovation.

Past beneficiaries, like Nigerian innovators Joshua Ichor and Stanley Anigbogu, have used the platform to scale impactful projects, from building clean water kiosks to launching eco-friendly energy solutions.

“These young people are turning obstacles into opportunities and driving real progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals,” added Annemarie Hou, Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships.

The program continues to nurture the next generation of global leaders by supporting their visions for a sustainable future.
