WASSCE: Students Attack Teachers for Refusing to Allow Cheating at Ghanaian School

Tensions escalated at Christian Methodist Senior High School (Chrimeto) in Ghana as students allegedly attacked teachers after they refused to allow cheating during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) that occurred not too long ago.

The students, frustrated by strict supervision, reportedly began throwing stones and sachets of water at the teachers in a bid to express their anger.

In an interview with TV3, one of the teachers, Mr. Adanunyo, recounted the ordeal.

He revealed that the trouble started after the integrated science paper, when students warned him and the Head of Department that harm would come to them if they continued to enforce strict supervision.

“We were warned that students would harm us if we didn’t relax the supervision,” Adanunyo explained.

The next day, the students followed through with their threats, attacking the teachers without police presence for protection.

Moreover, Adanunyo stated that despite the attacks, teachers stood firm in upholding exam regulations.

“I suggested we leave, but some students took alternative routes and confronted us, accusing me of being too strict and not allowing cheating,” he added.

The incident has sparked conversations around the importance of academic integrity and the role of parents in instilling discipline in their children.
