At least 10 people, including three children, tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident early this morning, on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The accident occurred when a Toyota Sienna bus carrying passengers from the eastern part of Nigeria collided with a stationary Shacman truck loaded with granite.
The incident, attributed to excessive speeding, took place at around 2:15 a.m. at Abule-Osun, inward Iyana-Iba.
Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, confirmed that the bus crashed into the parked truck, which had shut down half of the road.
“The crash claimed the lives of 10 passengers, including three male adults, four female adults, two female children, and one male child,” he stated.
Three other passengers were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
Emergency responders, including LASEMA, FRSC, and LASAMBUS, swiftly arrived on the scene, rescuing the injured and providing immediate medical attention.
Oke-Osanyitolu emphasized the importance of road safety, urging drivers to avoid reckless driving to prevent further tragedies.
“We pray for the souls of the departed and urge drivers to be more cautious on the roads,” he added.
The deceased have been taken to the mortuary, while authorities continue to investigate the accident.
