2025 budget to be driven by needs Assessment, Gbajabiamila insists

The Federal Government has announced that the 2025 budget will be structured around a comprehensive needs assessment, focusing on essential projects and agencies to ensure that resources are allocated more equitably.

This new approach aims to make life more comfortable for all Nigerians by adjusting the budget to better suit the needs of the population, creating a more balanced and fair distribution of funds across both wealthy and less privileged communities.

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, disclosed this during a media briefing after a fact-finding tour of government agencies under the State House.

Gbajabiamila emphasized the importance of prioritization in light of the country’s limited resources, noting that the government seeks to optimize the use of funds to benefit the public more effectively.

“In any country in the world, resources are limited. For us, it is about prioritizing,” he said, highlighting the administration’s focus on ensuring that the budget reflects the actual needs of the people.

The Chief of Staff also raised concerns about the performance and funding of various government agencies, questioning their effectiveness in fulfilling their mandates.

Gbajabiamila suggested that some agencies could face mergers or dissolution if they are found to be underperforming.
