In this article I’ll be sharing with you 5 Nigerian couples who are both celebrities. These celebrity couples have shown us what celebrity marriage should be like as they keep giving us reasons to say ‘awwwn’ from time to time.
1. Banky W and Adesuwa Etomi
Banky W is a very talented Nigerian musician who has been in the Nigerian entertainment industry for quite a number of years. He is a record label owner, and has helped a lot of Nigerian artiste in getting fame. He is one of the most responsible and generous musician in the industry.
Banky W is also an actor who has played quite a number of role in movies. He is as well a patriot and he has gradually dived into politics.
Banky W hails from Lagos State, Nigeria. He is an Industrial Engineering graduate from the RPI College in New York City, United States of America.
His wife, Adesua Etomi is a popular Nollywood actress, a television and social media personality, as well as a model. Adesuwa Etomi is a graduate of Drama and Performing Arts from the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom. Adesuwa is from Edo State, Nigeria.
In February 2017, Adesua and Banky got engaged. They had their introduction on the 6th of May 2017 and got married on 19th November 2017.
Their wedding was indeed a hit as it was graced by well respected dignitaries and top Nigerian celebrities.
Banky W and Adesuwa Etomi are number one on this list and I wish the a happy marriage life even as they celebrate 3 years together this year.
2. Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva
These Nollywood Superstars are no doubt the oldest couples in Nollywood. They’ve been married for about 35 years now.
Olu Jacobs is a veteran Nollywood actor, producer, television personality and entrepreneur.
He is from Ogun State, Nigeria and has been in the entertainment industry since the 70’s.
Olu Jacobs is a graduate of Performing Arts from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, United Kingdom.
His wife, Joke Silva is a Nollywood actress, movie director and producer, an entrepreneur, and a television personality. She is from Lagos State, Nigeria.
Joke Silva is a Theatre Arts graduate from Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, United Kingdom.
Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva met themselves in 1981 on set at the National Theatre in Lagos, Nigeria.
This was during Nigeria’s 21st Independence Anniversary. They got married four years after in 1985 and today they are blessed with children and grandchildren.
Together they founded a movie academy, named Royal Arts Academy. An academy where they train actors, script writers, models, photographers, movie producers, costumiers, make-up artists, editors, directors, set designers and other movie professionals.
3. Austin Faani Ikechukwu and Chacha Eke
Austin Faani Ikechukwu is a popular Nollywood director, movie editor and producer. He is from Anambra State, Nigeria. He was born and he grew up in Asaba, Delta State.
Austin Faani started directing movies in the early 2000’s when he just joined Nollywood. He was able to master his craft well enough, and today he’s one of Nigeria’s most prominent movie directors.
His wife Chacha Eke whose real name is Charity Eke is a popular Nollywood actress and a model. She one of the most talented actresses in the Nigerian movie industry.

She is the daughter of Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education, Professor John Eke. Chacha Eke is from Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
She was born on May 1, 1993 in Ebonyi State. Despite her young age, she is a wife and a mother. And also one of the most successful actresses in Nollywood.
Her career started after she was among the lucky winner in a talent hunt held by Nollywood. And since then she has gotten roles in many movies.
Austin Faani and Chacha Eke met themselves onset in 2009, while she was starring in a movie named “when kings decide”.
They had their traditional marriage in Ebonyi State, Abakaliki while their white wedding took place in Asaba, Delta state on the 1st of June, 2013. They welcomed their first son in September 2013.
4. Adekunle Gold and Simi
Popular Nigerian musician, Omoba Adekunle Kosoko, better known as Adekunle Gold is one of Nigeria’s fastest rising musician and a master of his craft.
He is a singer, songwriter, stage performer sculptor and a graphic designer. He is a prince from the Kosoko Royal Family in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Adekunle Gold was born on the 28th of January, 1987. He is a nephew to legendary Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko. Adekunle is from a Muslim family, but his father allowed him and his siblings to choose their own religion and that was how he found himself in the church choir.
Adekunle Gold met stardom after the release of his song “Sade” in 2014. Sade was a cover of One Direction’s song “Story of my life”. The song was a hit and won the Best Alternative Awards at The Headies 2015.
His wife Simisola Bolatito Ogunle better known as Simi is also a fast rising Nigerian R & B singer, stage performer, songwriter and a model. She is also from Lagos State Nigeria.
Simi was born on the 19th of April, 1988 in Ojuelegba, a suburb of Surulere. She’s the last child out of four children. Simi is a Mass Communication graduate from Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Simi came into limelight in 2014 after she released two singles titled “Tiff” and “E No Go Funny”. Tiff was a hit song and was nominated in the “Best Alternative Song” category at the 2015 edition of The Headies.
Simi won the “Most Promising Act to Watch” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Simi is also a sound engineer, she is the person behind the mixing and mastering of Adekunle Gold’s album “Gold”.
Adekunle Gold and Simi tied the knot on the 13th of January, 2019 at the Ilashe beach in Lagos. The ceremony was graced with 300 selected guests. Simi is currently pregnant and the couple will be expecting their first child pretty soon.
5. Tchidi Chikere and Nuella Njubigbo
Tchidi Chikere is a popular Nollywood actor, producer, director and a script writer. He hails from Imo State, Nigeria. Tchidi is a Theatre Arts graduate from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross Rivers State. He is also a music video director, singer and songwriter.
Tchidi Chikere was born on the 10th of October 1975, in Mbaise, Imo State.
Tchidi has been in the Nigerian movie industry for over 20 years, and so far he has directed over 100 movies. He has also written and published a book.
His wife Nuella Njubigbo is a Nigerian actress and script writer. She hails from Anambra State, Nigeria. Nuella was born in 1984, and started acting as early as 1999. She is a graduate of the Imo State University, where she studied Public Administration.
Tchidi Chikere and Nuella Njubigbo had their traditional marriage on the 29th of March 2014 at Nuella’s home town. They thereafter had a court wedding which took place at Ikoyi Marriage Registry in Lagos on the 2nd of December 2015.
Tchidi Chikere was earlier married Sophia Tchidi Chikere who they both had three sons together before their marriage ended in 2012. However, Nuella Njubigbo has a daughter for the Nollywood actor and director and together they are a happy family.
Update: Tchidi Chikere and Nuella Njubigbo are now divorced. Tchidi is now remarried for the 3rd time.
