Rapper 50 Cent is reportedly ready to drop his defamation lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy after she accused him of r@pe and physical abuse.
The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, had filed the lawsuit in May, following Joy’s claims made in an Instagram post.
The 37-year-old later deleted the post, which had accused Jackson of being her “oppressor” and detailed allegations of abuse, likely in an effort to restore peace for the sake of their son, Sire.
The legal battle between the two was triggered after 50 Cent publicly labeled Joy as a “sex worker” in response to allegations involving music mogul Diddy.
Joy’s counterclaims emerged as the pair fought over custody, with the rapper seeking sole custody of their son.
“My son Sire is my main priority, and keeping him in a safe environment is my only focus at this time,” 50 Cent stated at the time, denying all allegations made by Joy.
The decision to dismiss the lawsuit is still pending judge approval, but it’s expected to be granted, putting an end to the legal feud.
While the dismissal signals a resolution, it highlights the tumultuous relationship between the two and the ongoing challenges related to co-parenting.
