The Management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended Okoi Godwin Clement, a student in the Department of Physiotherapy, following allegations of sexual molestation of a fellow student during a departmental dinner night at Atekong Drive in Calabar.
The suspension, which became effective on August 14, 2024, was communicated through a letter signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel O. Egbe.
The letter emphasized that Okoi’s alleged actions contradict the current administration’s commitment to character molding among undergraduates and violate the provisions of the Students Handbook and the matriculation oath.

This incident underscores the importance of parental involvement in their children’s lives, especially as they navigate the challenges of higher education.
Parents must maintain open lines of communication and provide guidance to their children to help them resist negative influences and peer pressure.
The Vice-Chancellor has directed strict compliance with the suspension by the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, the Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, and the Dean of Student Affairs, reflecting the institution’s firm stance on upholding its values and ensuring the well-being of its students.
