Michael Blackson A Ghanaian-American comedian has voiced his frustration with the Ghanaian government, accusing them of diverting funds he had invested in a free school project aimed at helping underprivileged children into what they feel is the most paramount to them.
The comedian claims that the $1 million he had allocated for the school was misused by the government to pay off national debts, leaving him in a difficult financial position to move up from there.
In a series of tweets, Blackson expressed his anger, saying,
“Ghana stole the money I invested to keep my free school going, so now I might have to do a GoFundMe.
They set me back financially, and I’ll never forgive them for this,” he stated.
He criticized the country’s financial management, calling out the government for its lack of transparency and accountability, which has hindered his efforts to support the less privileged in Ghana and to upgrade their level.
In spite of the setback, Blackson remains committed to helping the youth in Ghana regardless of the current situation.
“If it wasn’t for the love and passion I have for the underprivileged youth of Ghana, I would just hand my school to the people and walk away.
But I can’t,” he tweeted.
Blackson stressed that this experience has been an eye-opener, urging people to rely on their own hustle for the betterment of their future amidst a government that appears self-serving instead of the people.
