Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, was reportedly placed in protective custody during his time at a correctional center.
According to prison expert Bishop Kayode Williams, this decision was made to ensure Bobrisky’s safety due to his transgender appearance.
Speaking on Arise TV, Williams explained that Bobrisky’s unique situation, being neither fully male nor female in appearance, posed security risks.
He stated, “They provided him a special place for protective custody because, with his appearance, he would be in danger… there are homosexual inmates who would be willing to take things to extreme lengths.”
However, former National PRO of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, refuted claims that Bobrisky was given any form of “private” accommodation.
He explained that while safety measures are taken for all inmates, no individual is provided with private housing.
“There’s no such thing as a private apartment or anything special in the prison,” Enobore emphasized, adding that Bobrisky’s case was handled according to standard procedures.
This clarification comes amid allegations that Bobrisky had bribed correctional officers for special treatment, leading to the suspension of two deputy controllers at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre.
The ongoing controversy highlights concerns about potential corruption within the correctional system, with experts and the public questioning whether Robert’s claims were exaggerated or if the system failed to act transparently.
