Will Smith’s Flatulence Forces Film Set Evacuation for Three Hours, Director Reveals

“Men in Black” director Barry Sonnenfeld recently shared an amusing behind-the-scenes story, revealing that actor Will Smith’s father of another notable celebrity, Jaden Smith, flatulence once caused an entire film set to be evacuated for three hours.

The incident occurred in 1997 while Smith and co-star Tommy Lee Jones were filming inside a hermetically sealed transforming car on set. The incident occurred, which happened to be so shocking and overwhelming.

Sonnenfeld explained that the sealed environment trapped Smith’s gas, leading to an immediate evacuation of everyone to avoid suffocation.

“Will Smith is a farter,” Sonnenfeld joked during an appearance on the “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast with Kelly Ripa.

He recalled Smith apologizing repeatedly while Jones, who handled the situation calmly, exited the pod as quickly as possible to cut the long issue short.

However, in spite of the unexpected disruption, “Men in Black” went on to become a massive hit, grossing $584 million worldwide.

Sonnenfeld shared the story with humor but emphasized the importance of timing, saying,

“You really don’t want to be inside a very small hermetically sealed space with a Will Smith fart,” the other actor stated.

Nonetheless, Smith’s professionalism and commitment to his work remain evident, as the film was a resounding success.
