Truck Crushes Couple and One Other to Death in Ogun, Blamed on Reckless Driving

A tragic accident claimed the lives of a couple and another man on Sunday, October 13, 2024, along the Sagamu-Ogijo road in Ogun State.

The incident, involving a Foton truck, a space wagon car, and a Bajaj motorcycle, was attributed to the recklessness of the truck driver, who lost control and struck the motorcycle, carrying the couple, from behind.

This caused a chain collision involving a space wagon car and resulting in the tragic deaths of all three victims.

 According to Ogun State Police Command spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola,

“The driver of the truck suddenly lost control, leaving his lane, and collided with the motorcycle from behind, causing it to hit the space wagon car simultaneously.”

The victims, identified as 25-year-old Moses Ekpolo, his 19-year-old wife Josephine, and a passenger in the space wagon car, Kolawole Moshood, were rushed to Idera Private Hospital in Sagamu but were pronounced dead upon arrival.

 The bodies have since been moved to Idera Mortuary.

The PPRO further urged articulated vehicle drivers to drive safely, stating,

“Articulated vehicles must ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines, and other road users should give reasonable distance on the road to avoid preventable tragedies.”
