The tragic incident of Ganiyu Ibrahim stabbing his cousin, Afeez Akeem, to death in Lagos State is a painful reminder of the devastating consequences of unchecked anger.
The altercation, which occurred on Monday, October 14, 2024, resulted in the loss of a young life and leaves the family and community in shock.
“The suspect is at large, and the investigation is ongoing,” said Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the State Police Command.
Moreover, the death of Afeez Akeem serves as a stark reminder of the importance of anger management.
“As a result, Ganiyu broke a bottle and stabbed Afeez on the left side of his chest,” Hundeyin stated.
This senseless act of violence could have been avoided if Ganiyu had learned to control his temper.
“The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” Hundeyin added.
Furthermore, the family’s decision to decline an autopsy and bury Akeem according to Islamic rites underscores the finality of death.
“The suspect is at large, and efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” Hundeyin said.
As the community mourns the loss of Afeez, it is essential to reflect on the importance of managing anger and learning from others’ mistakes.
