Men of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested a 35-year-old man, Musa Abdullahi, suspected of supplying food and other services to armed bandits and terrorists in Ekiti State.
The arrest was made during a patrol at the Oritan Forest Reserve in Ise Ekiti, following a tip-off on Monday, October 7, 2024.
According to a statement by the Head of the Communications Department of the Corps, Officer Adeleye Abiodun, Abdullahi, a resident of Shasha in Akure, Ondo State, was apprehended at around 6:30 pm.
The suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to being a food supplier to the Fulani/Bororo bandits inhabiting the area.
Abdullahi’s activities have been described as a breach of trust, as he endangered the safety of his community by aligning with criminals terrorizing the region.
The suspect, along with evidence recovered during the arrest, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police in Ise-Orun Division for further investigation.
Officer Abiodun emphasized that Abdullahi’s actions pose a serious threat to community peace, stating,
“This act of betrayal against one’s community is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
It is essential that individuals work with security forces to safeguard the peace and safety of the region, rather than aiding those who seek to destroy it.”
