Bandits launched a brutal attack on two churches during Sunday service in Bakinpah-Maro, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria, killing three worshippers and abducting 30 others, including Pastor Bernard Gajera.
The attacks, targeting the ECWA and Catholic churches, occurred around 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, leaving the community in a state of fear and calling for urgent government intervention for the protection of life.
Former Chairman of Kajuru LGA, Cafra Caino, confirmed the tragic incident, stating,
“The terrorists attacked the churches during service, killing three people and abducting many others.
The community is in shock, and we urge the authorities to take immediate action to rescue the kidnapped victims.”
Witnesses described the scene as horrific, with many worshippers fleeing as the heavily armed attackers wreaked havoc.
Local residents have expressed fear and frustration over the growing insecurity, urging the government to take decisive action.
“We urge the government to address the security challenges in our community.
We cannot continue to live in fear of bandits and kidnappers,” a local resident stated in fear.
The community continues to appeal for heightened security measures, calling on the state and federal governments to ensure the safety of lives and property in the region.
