The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned a viral testimony by a member of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, who claimed that an angel provided her with answers during a military promotion examination.
The woman recounted in a video that an old man in white appeared by her side after she invoked her faith, giving her the correct answers to difficult questions.
The testimony, shared during a church service, has sparked widespread debate on social media.
Reacting to the incident, CAN’s Lagos Chairman, Stephen Adegbite, expressed disapproval, describing the testimony as potentially fabricated.
Adegbite emphasized the importance of verifying such claims before allowing them to be shared publicly, adding,
“There are testimonies you don’t allow to be given in the church… If you know that the story they are telling can only be told to monkeys, you should ask the person to go and face the monkeys and say that, not in the church.”
Adegbite also noted that the CAN National Body will meet on September 28 to address concerns surrounding viral testimonies like this.
He stressed that churches should be careful about the kind of content shared publicly, as such stories could create a negative image for the church and its leadership.
