Chief of Defence Staff Awards N1 Million to Soldiers for Eliminating Notorious Bandit in Zamfara

Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, has gifted N1 million to 24 soldiers for their role in eliminating notorious terrorist and gunrunner, Habibu Sububu, the terrorist and his fighters.

Sububu, who operated from the Sumke forest in Zamfara State and owned illegal gold mines, was killed in an operation on Thursday, September 12 by Nigerian troops in Kwaren Kirya, Zamfara.

He was also known for frequently escaping to the Niger Republic after carrying out attacks in Nigeria, which is not a good act to be demonstrated by a citizen.

The gesture by General Musa, which was intended as a reward for the soldiers’ bravery, has sparked mixed reactions.

While some citizens appreciate the recognition of the troops’ efforts, others believe the monetary compensation will be too small when divided among the 24 soldiers, leaving each with a modest amount.

Nonetheless, the act has been seen as an important morale booster for the Nigerian forces.

This reward is part of efforts by the Nigerian government to recognize and motivate troops fighting terrorism in the country.

Many view it as a way to encourage soldiers to continue their diligent work in securing the nation and eliminating criminal elements that threaten peace and stability.
