A 26-year-old British influencer tragically fell to his death while attempting to climb Spain’s tallest bridge, Puente de Castilla-La Mancha, on Sunday, October 13.
The influencer, who has not yet been named, fell from a height of 40 to 50 meters, though the bridge itself stands at 192 meters.
Local authorities, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, arrived at the scene but found the influencer already deceased.
His 24-year-old companion, who survived the incident, was reportedly in shock and is not expected to face charges.
The Spanish Police have cordoned off the area and are continuing their investigation.
A police spokesperson stated, “The reason he fell is not clear and will be investigated by a local court.”
The two British men were climbing without proper safety equipment, such as harnesses.
A passing motorist raised the alarm, but sadly, the emergency services arrived too late to save the man.
The local council had previously banned any public climbing of the bridge, with councillor Macarena Munoz confirming,
“We have made it clear on several occasions that it’s not something that can be done in any circumstances.”
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of following safety regulations, especially when engaging in dangerous activities.
Fans have expressed their condolences to the influencer’s family, reflecting on the tragedy of a life cut short.
