Delta Governor’s Aide Criticizes Rema’s N105m Donation to Church, Urges Spiritual Commitment Over Financial Gifts

An aide to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Success Ovie, has expressed disappointment in Nigerian singer Rema for donating N105 million to his home church, Christ Embassy, without first surrendering his life back to God, who gave him life.

In a Facebook post shared on September 2, Ovie argued that while Rema’s financial contribution is commendable, it would have been more meaningful and significant to God if the singer had chosen to dedicate his life to Christ.

 Ovie emphasized that

“Giving to the church without being born again may not resonate with God, as He desires our hearts and souls, not just our wealth.”

He acknowledged Rema’s generosity but urged the artist to consider the spiritual significance of fully committing to God.

“The most valuable offering we can present to God is our lives, surrendered to Him in devotion and service,” Ovie added.

The governor’s aide’s comments highlight a broader debate within religious circles about the true meaning of devotion and the importance of spiritual commitment over material offerings.

While Rema’s donation has been praised by many, Ovie’s statements suggest that the singer’s gesture could have had a deeper impact if it had been accompanied by a personal spiritual transformation than that of a physical appreciation
