Actress Eniola Badmus has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic progress, pointing to the country’s increasing exports and declining imports as evidence of expansion in the nation, though this will require hard work.
In a post on her Instagram, the actress highlighted the trade surplus achieved by the country in 2024, stating,
“Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing.
That is a sign that our economy is expanding.”
According to Badmus, Nigeria recorded N24.44 trillion in imports and N38.59 trillion in exports for the year-to-date, marking a trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months, which was quite surprising at the same time shocking.
“This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.
It has never happened in Nigeria. Never,” she noted, emphasizing the significance of this shift in the country’s trade dynamics.
Her comments reflect pride in Nigeria’s move from a consumption-based economy to a more production-oriented one, which she believes will lead the nation toward greater prosperity if determined and worked towards.
“This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production,” Badmus added, urging for continued determination and transparency in governance to fully realize Nigeria’s potential by setting aside their self-interest.
