The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed a six-month ban on Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), barring him from attending any matches involving Cameroon’s national teams.
The suspension, which stems from Eto’o’s violations of Articles 13 and 14 of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code, relates to his misconduct during Cameroon’s last-16 match against Brazil in Bogota, Colombia, on September 11.
The ban applies to both men’s and women’s national team games across all age categories.
Eto’o’s reaction to a penalty that led to Brazil’s equalizer during the match is said to have breached FIFA’s standards of fair play and professional conduct.

The decision by FIFA does not affect Eto’o’s role as FECAFOOT president, but it sends a clear message about the consequences of inappropriate behavior, even from top officials.
This sanction, effective immediately, is aimed at holding leaders accountable and ensuring they uphold the principles of the game.
The former footballer has faced previous disciplinary issues, including a $200,000 fine in July for ethics violations involving a brand deal with an online gambling company.
His recent conflicts with the Cameroonian sports ministry further highlight the ongoing challenges in his tenure as FECAFOOT president.
This ban serves as a reminder that leadership requires setting a positive example for the team and ensuring the focus remains on the collective goals of the sport.
