Preston North End forward Milutin Osmajic has been handed an eight-match ban and a £15,000 fine after admitting to biting Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck during a Championship match last month.
The incident occurred during the 87th minute of the goalless draw on September 22 at Deepdale.
Although referee Matt Donohue missed the biting incident, leaving Osmajic on the pitch, Beck was sent off for retaliating against Duane Holmes following the altercation.
Moreover, the Football Association (FA) found Osmajic guilty of violent conduct, with a statement on Friday confirming the player had admitted to the offense.
“Preston North End’s Milutin Osmajic has been given an eight-match suspension and £15,000 fine for misconduct during their match against Blackburn Rovers… An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing,” read the FA’s statement.
Meanwhile, Blackburn’s Owen Beck, who was sent off for kicking Holmes after the incident, has already served two matches of his three-game ban.
Preston North End acknowledged the FA’s decision but withheld further comments until the written reasons behind the ban are released.
The incident serves as a reminder to players and officials alike that maintaining control and avoiding violent conduct is crucial, not just to protect careers but also to preserve the integrity of the game.
