The incident has significant implications for the future of the monarchy, as the king now faces the challenge of succession without his chosen heir, potentially leading to disputes over the transfer of power to another family within the tradition-bound community.
Residents have begun fleeing the area, concerned about the possibility of further attacks.
A notice sent out by the management of a nearby estate confirmed the incident, urging residents to avoid Chevron, Agungi, and Ajiran for their safety.
The notice read, “This is to notify all residents that Ajiran (Agungi) King’s son was assassinated today along Chevron Drive (close to Ebeano Supermarket) this morning. We therefore plead with our esteemed residents to avoid Chevron, Agungi, and Ajiran for their safety.”
The motive behind the assassination remains unclear, but the impact of Demola’s death is profound, leaving the Ojomu of Ajiran land to navigate the difficult task of ensuring the continuity of leadership within his kingdom amidst growing tension and uncertainty.
