The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) has announced a major achievement, recovering N13 billion in diverted public funds in September 2024.
ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, shared the news during the launch of the ICPC’s Strategic Action Plan 2024-2028, describing it as a testament to the commission’s commitment to fighting corruption in Nigeria.
“This is just one of the many ways we have worked tirelessly to fulfill our mandate,” he stated.
Moreover, the ICPC is focusing on innovative reforms, including leveraging technology to enhance investigations and case management.
Dr. Aliyu highlighted plans to digitalize the agency’s operations, ensuring that the ICPC stays ahead of criminal activities in an increasingly digital world.
“We are embarking on ICT reforms that will position the commission as a leader in combating corruption,” he added.
Furthermore, the commission is decentralizing its efforts, empowering state governments to tackle corruption at the local level.
In addition, it is engaging citizens, civil society, and the media to broaden its anti-corruption campaign.
Dr. Aliyu stressed the importance of collaboration and collective responsibility, saying,
“Together, we can institutionalize integrity in our systems and mobilize our citizenry to embrace the anti-corruption war.”
