Suspected militants from the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) attacked
Geidam town in Yobe State early Saturday
morning, October 5, 2024, leaving one person dead and two vehicles destroyed, which have caused them pain.
The attack, which occurred at around 3:30 a.m., saw insurgents unleashing explosives, burning vehicles belonging to customs officials, and setting fire to the grave of Khalifah Ayiloma in Kolori Ward in the north.
Moreover, in the course of the assault, the insurgents targeted the residence of Dahiru Muhammadu, a 60-year-old night watchman.

Muhammad sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was rushed to Geidam immediately for treatment.

Meanwhile, the government is urged to act swiftly to address the ongoing security issues in northern Nigeria, as continuous attacks by ISWAP and other insurgent groups threaten the lives and well-being of residents.
This latest incident raises further concerns about the state’s capacity to safeguard its citizens, and community leaders have called for immediate intervention to prevent further bloodshed.
