Late Hollywood actor John Amos, who passed away on October 1, reportedly asked that his death announcement be delayed to prevent his daughter Shannon from turning it into a “circus,” according to his longtime publicist, Belinda Foster.
Amos, 84, passed away due to congestive heart failure, but his death was not announced until over a month later by his son, Kelly Christopher Amos (K.C.), to honor his father’s request.
Amos’ family dynamic became public when Shannon, who claimed she was unaware of her father’s passing until media reports surfaced, accused K.C. and Foster of isolating the family from the actor in his final days.
Foster refuted these claims, stating, “It was John who requested the delay in announcing his death to Shannon and the rest of the world,” and reiterated Amos’ complicated relationship with his daughter, whom he believed might exploit the situation.
In spite of the ongoing family tensions, Amos’ contributions to Hollywood and his influence as a role model remain intact.
Foster concluded, “For the sake of preserving John’s well-earned reputation as a superb actor and a community activist, we hope we can put to rest these nonsensical claims that Shannon is offering out of her own pain.”
