John Cena has revealed his decision to remain childless, citing his belief that he is not mentally prepared for the immense responsibility and commitment that raising a child requires.
In a candid conversation on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, the actor and WWE star opened up about why he and his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, have decided not to have children.
“I don’t want them,” Cena stated, explaining that his desire to live life fully and his acknowledgment of the time and energy required to be a great parent have led him to this decision.
“I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it needs to be a great parent because I want to live life for all it is.”
Cena emphasized that his decision is not just about his personal desires but also about maintaining a healthy relationship with his wife.
The couple, who have been married since 2020, discussed the topic of children early in their relationship, ensuring they were on the same page.
“I have a wonderful partner I do it with. We’ve had open conversations about this. We share the same values,” Cena shared, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding in their marriage.
This decision stands in contrast to Cena’s previous relationship with fellow WWE star Nikki Bella, which ended after six years partly due to differences over having children.
By choosing not to have children, Cena acknowledges the stress and challenges that come with parenting and believes that being honest about his limitations is crucial.
“I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity, but I also know the investment that it takes,” he said.
Cena’s openness about his decision provides insight into the pressures of balancing personal aspirations with the expectations of family life, demonstrating that thoughtful communication and self-awareness are key to making such significant life choices.
