Nigerian actor Kunle Remi has expressed concern over the rising cost of petrol and the seeming complacency of Nigerians in the face of escalating economic hardship.
In a video shared on his Snapchat, the actor revealed that he recently spent N98,000 on fuel and was shocked by how Nigerians continue to cope with the soaring fuel prices, despite the difficult circumstances.
In his remarks, Kunle stated, “I have come to the conclusion that no matter how ridiculous it gets in Nigeria, we always still find ways to survive.”
He expressed surprise at the fact that even with the fuel price hikes, roads remain busy and traffic persists.
“Fela sang it,’suffering and smiling’. So we complain and do nothing about it.
Welcome to Nigeria,” he added, referring to the popular song by the late musician Fela Kuti.
Moreover, Kunle Remi emphasized his concerns for less-privileged Nigerians who are disproportionately affected by the fuel price increase.
He urged the government to step in and address the worsening economy, while expressing hope that the situation would eventually improve. “
We must push through these challenges, but the government needs to do more to meet the people’s expectations and not allow greed and selfishness to dominate decisions,” he concluded.
