Lagos State Seals Churches and Guest Houses Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed multiple establishments, including churches, a guest house, and a printing press, in a bid to curb noise pollution across various areas of the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday, September 25, LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, confirmed that these actions were in line with ensuring compliance with environmental laws and promoting public health.

The areas targeted included Ikeja, Mushin, Ghana, and Maryland.

Among the sealed establishments were the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Celestial Church of God, Polite Anchorage and Suites, 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites, and Charley’s Bar.

In spite of receiving prior warnings from LASEPA, these facilities reportedly failed to adhere to noise control regulations.

Dr. Ajayi stressed that the agency will not tolerate non-compliance, noting that businesses must recognize their environmental responsibilities.

“We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations,” he said.

Moreover, the agency urged Lagos residents and businesses to collaborate with the government in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Dr. Ajayi added that such measures are necessary to maintain peace and order in the community.

This crackdown signals the government’s commitment to protecting the public from excessive noise and ensuring that everyone in the community adheres to the laws for the benefit of all.
