Madonna has broken her silence following the death of her brother, Christopher Ciccone, who passed away at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer.
In a heartfelt tribute shared on her Instagram, the pop icon reflected on their complex relationship, acknowledging both their highs and lows but emphasizing the unbreakable bond they shared.
Moreover, in spite of their past falling out, she revealed that they were able to reconcile before his death.
“My brother Christopher is gone. He was the closest human to me for so long,” Madonna wrote, recalling their shared childhood struggles and their artistic journey together.
“We soared the highest heights together and floundered in the lowest lows. Somehow, we always found each other again, and we held hands, and we kept dancing.”
Christopher Ciccone, who passed away on October 4 surrounded by loved ones, had a history of public disagreements with Madonna, particularly after the release of his tell-all book, “Life with My Sister Madonna.”
However, Madonna expressed relief that they were able to reconnect before his passing, stating,
“I did my best to keep him alive as long as possible… I’m glad he’s not suffering anymore.
I know he’s dancing somewhere.”
