Minister of State for Defense, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, has issued a stern warning to informants aiding bandits, urging them to repent or face dire consequences.
During his visit to Gundumi village in Sokoto state’s Isa and Sabon Birni local government areas on Thursday, October 10, Matawalle emphasized that the government’s efforts to combat banditry will not be hindered by those aiding criminals.
Addressing the gathering, the minister expressed sorrow over the current state of the village, once lively but now a shadow of its former self due to insecurity.
He reassured residents that a military base would soon be established in the area, stating,
“You better repent or we send you back to your creator.
The fight is not for Matawalle alone; it’s for all Nigerians.”
He further urged media houses to report the military’s successes, referencing recent operations where key bandit leaders, including notorious kingpin Halidu Sububu, were neutralized.
Matawalle’s call for vigilance was directed not just at government forces but also the citizens, emphasizing the need for unity in the fight against banditry.
“Journalists have a greater role to play because we know the bandits have been flooding social media platforms with propaganda.
We must join hands together to ensure peace returns to our communities,” he added.
