Veteran comedian Alibaba has weighed in on the issue of men feeling insecure about their wives earning higher incomes, urging men to stop relying on outdated narratives.
In a reaction to viral tweets encouraging women to quit their jobs to massage their husbands’ egos, Alibaba, whose real name is Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, firmly advised that men should instead quit their jobs if they feel insecure about their wives’ financial success.
In a statement shared on social media, Alibaba criticized men who feel threatened by their wives’ earnings, calling them “lazy bumcums.”
He stated, “If you earn more than your man, let him quit his own job.
Nonsense! Who are these lazy bumcums peddling these stupid narratives?”
He further emphasized that a man’s self-worth should not be based on his financial status, adding that men should be motivated to improve themselves instead of dragging down their successful partners.
The comedian stressed that men should support their wives’ careers and work to upgrade their own financial situation rather than allowing insecurities to take control.
“Insecurities my foot. Who is bringing up these men with self-esteem defined by financial status?
Instead of being challenged and driven to upgrade your financial status, shiooooor,”
Alibaba remarked, concluding that strong men build their families through hard work and determination.
