Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Disrupts Event, Criticizes Misallocation of Funds

Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has taken a bold stance against the misuse of government funds, disrupting an event organized without her approval.

The Minister is seen in a video circulating on social media, passionately criticizing the habit of organizing workshops and seminars that, in her view, fail to directly impact the lives of Nigerian women and children.

Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized that resources should be used to empower women rather than on events that do little to address the pressing issues of poverty and insecurity.

During the disruption, the Minister firmly stated, “Let this be the last time Women Affairs will organize anything that I am not aware of. I said no program without empowerment. You are talking about peace and security. With poverty, how can you solve it? By directing money to the wrong channels that don’t make an impact on humans.”

Her comments reflect her deep concern about the current state of affairs, where funds are allocated to initiatives that do not directly improve the lives of citizens.

Kennedy-Ohanenye’s message was clear: the government should prioritize practical empowerment efforts over ineffective seminars.

“If you hear the money the government gives out to ministries, you will be shocked. Why should it continue like that? Why should we fold our hands and these things continue?” she questioned.

The Minister’s actions and statements highlight her commitment to redirecting resources towards meaningful empowerment, ensuring that Nigerian women are equipped to support themselves and their communities.
