The impact caused the vehicle to ignite into flames, resulting in her death at the scene, according to Osage Beach Police Chief Todd Davis.

“Officer Carson perished in the crash,” Chief Davis tearfully announced during a press conference, highlighting the profound loss felt by her family, the police department, and the community.

Carson’s death marks the first line-of-duty fatality for the Osage Beach Police Department in 30 years, making it a particularly devastating blow to the force.

Chief Davis urged the community to keep Carson’s family in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this tragic time.

The suspect, Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, 23, who was fleeing the scene, also crashed shortly after Carson and was subsequently arrested.

He has been charged with aggravated fleeing, a crime that resulted in Carson’s death.

Carson’s passing leaves a significant void not only in her family but also in the police force, where she was respected for her dedication and diligence.

Her legacy serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those in law enforcement.
