Nigerian Father Laments Spending N200,000 on Daughter’s Hair in the UK, Feels “Robbed”

Dr. Uche Nworah, former Managing Director and CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service, has expressed his frustration after spending £100 (approximately N200,000) to braid his teenage daughter’s hair in the UK.

The significant cost, which he describes as exorbitant, left him feeling as though he had been “robbed,” especially considering the hairstyle’s temporary nature that is not forever.

Nworah shared his experience on social media, revealing that his daughter, Lotanna, who recently started secondary school in the UK, and his wife conspired to have him cover the expense due to the heavy price.

He humorously recounted how, after paying for the braids, he

“went back and punched [his] calculator.”

realizing the considerable expense involved for something that would only last a few weeks.

“Over N200K spent on a teen’s hair that will only last weeks,” he lamented, not even an adult.

Reflecting on the high cost of living and everyday expenses abroad, Nworah questioned how people manage to sustain such spending.

In spite of his frustration, he acknowledged that these expenses, although costly, are often viewed as necessities in certain situations.

The experience left him contemplating the financial challenges of living abroad in general, particularly when it comes to maintaining a comfortable lifestyle that you’re used to living.
