Following Victor Osimhen’s loan move from Napoli to Turkish club Galatasaray, many Nigerians have expressed their displeasure with how the Italian club handled the star forward’s transfer saga.
In response, a growing number of Nigerian fans have unfollowed Napoli on social media while flocking to follow Galatasaray, the new home of their national hero.
The wave of support for Osimhen comes after a turbulent summer, where failed transfer moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli left the striker in limbo before Galatasaray swooped in to sign him.
Osimhen’s switch to Galatasaray on a season-long loan, where he will earn a net seasonal salary of 6,000,000 euros, has been met with mixed emotions.
Many fans took to social media to troll Napoli for their handling of the transfer.
One Nigerian fan expressed their frustration, saying, “I wasn’t following your page before, but I want to follow your page now, so I can unfollow it immediately.”
This reflects the growing dissatisfaction with the Italian club and their perceived mistreatment of Osimhen.
In spite of the disappointment, fans continue to rally behind Osimhen, believing that he will shine even brighter at Galatasaray.
“Victor Osimhen! That name can never be erased from Napoli’s history. He’ll go on and shine brighter,” another fan stated.
The shift in loyalty demonstrates how passionate Nigerian fans are about their players, and the outpouring of support for Osimhen serves as a reminder that fans often follow their heroes wherever they go, regardless of club allegiances.
