PDP Chairman Criticizes Dino Melaye for Failing to Vote in His Own Gubernatorial Election

The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, has expressed disappointment over one of the party members, Senator Dino Melaye,’s actions during the recent Kogi State gubernatorial election.

In a recent interview, Damagum revealed that Melaye, in spite of running as the PDP candidate, did not vote for himself, which is so shocking.

“Put that on record: he didn’t go out to vote in his own election,” Damagum said, questioning Melaye’s loyalty and commitment to the party.

Damagum criticized Melaye’s remarks, referring to the PDP as a “once upon a time party,” claiming that Melaye’s lack of dedication during the election was part of the problem that needs to be addressed.

The chairman emphasized that candidates owe it to the party to represent its interests, stating, “Winning or losing is part of the process, but you must lose credibly.”

He expressed that loyalty to the party is crucial in upholding its integrity and future prospects considering the growth of the party.

Senator Dino Melaye has since been suspended from the PDP for alleged anti-party activities, which further deepened the party’s internal rifts.

The suspension highlights the growing discontent within the PDP ranks, as Damagum reiterated the need for party members to act with unwavering commitment during election campaigns and beyond.
