The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has plunged deeper into crisis following the suspension of key national officials, signaling a major internal rift.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, were suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday, October 10, over allegations of misconduct, including disloyalty and insubordination.
This decision further fractured the party, leading to the formation of opposing factions.
However, in swift retaliation, a faction loyal to the suspended officials, led by Ologunagba, responded by suspending acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.

This faction accused the duo of undermining the party’s stance in an ongoing legal case involving defectors to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ologunagba’s faction cited the PDP Constitution to defend its move, while Damagum and Anyanwu were criticized for allegedly writing to the Court of Appeal against the party’s interests.
The escalating feud within the PDP highlights growing tensions and accusations of anti-party activities, with both sides claiming betrayal.
As the party struggles with internal divisions, its leadership appears weakened, raising concerns about its future as Nigeria prepares for crucial elections.
The ongoing disciplinary proceedings may serve as a turning point, but the infighting could damage the party’s standing on the national stage.
