Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has firmly denied rumors suggesting he has agreed to be a vice presidential candidate in the 2027 upcoming elections.
In a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, September 14, Obi clarified that he remains loyal to the Labour Party and is focused on addressing Nigeria’s pressing issues, such as poverty, hunger, and insecurity, rather than positioning himself for future elections.
Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, expressed disappointment over the distortion of his earlier statements, explaining that his willingness to collaborate with others was only intended for those genuinely committed to Nigeria’s progress, not for those focused on “state capture” or winning elections at all costs.
He reiterated, “For the avoidance of doubts, I never stated at any time that I would be vice president to anyone.”
Obi further highlighted his ongoing commitment to improving Nigeria, stressing that his focus is on ensuring access to education and reducing poverty.
He stated that while he remains committed to the Labour Party, his efforts to help the nation can continue without holding any political office, underscoring his dedication to the people and the country’s future.
