In a bold move, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has dissolved the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen, effective September 6, 2024.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere.
However, the transition committees were initially set up on June 9, 2023, but their tenure was marked by selfish interest and lack of trust, leading to their dissolution.
The governor’s decision is seen as a response to the transition committees’ failure to prioritize the people’s interests and instead focus on their own gain.
“Governor Mutfwang commended the Transition Committee Chairmen for their exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing developmental projects that have directly impacted their communities,” the statement read.
Furthermore, this commendation is seen as a mere formality, as the governor’s actions speak louder than words.
The transition committees’ lack of trust and selfish interest have led to their downfall.
The Governor’s directive to the Directors of Personnel Management in the 17 local government areas to oversee the administration of the councils until elections are held is seen as a step in the right direction.
This move ensures that the people’s interests are prioritized and that the transition to a new leadership is smooth.
The governor’s decision to dissolve the transition committees sends a strong message that selfish interest and lack of trust will not be tolerated in his administration.
