The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a notorious cultist and armed robber, Fred Monday, who had been posing as a police inspector to carry out multiple criminal activities.
The arrest occurred during a police operation aimed at foiling a cult initiation involving students from Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, Monday, a member of the Iceland cult group, was apprehended while providing cover for the initiation.
He was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, 10 magazines, and 29 rounds of live ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police praised the operatives for their swift action, stating,
“On arriving at the scene, the police encountered a gruesome cult initiation process and arrested five suspects, including Fred Monday, who was disguised as a police inspector.”
Further investigations revealed that Monday had been using his fake police identity to escort criminals and carry out armed robberies across multiple states, including Akwa-Ibom, Edo, Delta, and Rivers.
The Police Command is continuing its investigation to capture other members of Monday’s gang.
This successful operation has boosted public confidence in the police force’s ability to protect citizens and combat crime.
The CP reiterated that the police are committed to ensuring the safety of the public, stating,
“We will continue to carry out our duties with diligence, ensuring that those who seek to terrorize innocent citizens are brought to justice.”
