“Politicians Who Rig Elections Have No Right to Seek Divine Help – Ex-AGF Kanu Agabi”

Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Kanu Agabi, has condemned politicians who manipulate elections and later seek divine intervention when faced with socio-economic challenges.

Speaking on “Inside Sources” on Channels Television, Agabi expressed that those who rig their way into power cannot expect spiritual guidance in their roles, stating it as an “abomination” to seek God’s help under such circumstances.

He emphasized, “When you have stolen the office that you are holding, do you expect God to partner with you?”

Agabi, also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), further highlighted the burden placed on the judiciary due to a high volume of electoral cases, reflecting the deep mistrust in the electoral process.

He noted, “The judiciary is not perfect, but it is the best arm of government.

The problem arises from the fact that the judges are overworked.”

He called for appointing more judges to address the overwhelming workload caused by numerous electoral disputes.

The former AGF pointed out that the root of the problem begins with party-level primaries, often riddled with rigging.

He argued that politicians who attain office through dishonest means cannot in good faith claim to be “governors or senators by the grace of God.”

His message urged a reformation of the electoral system, saying that only through transparency and integrity can the judiciary function effectively and the nation move forward.
