Presidential Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has announced an indefinite leave of absence to address pressing medical matters affecting his immediate family.
In a memo submitted to the Chief of Staff on Friday, September 6, Ngelale explained that after consultations with his family, he made the difficult decision to temporarily step down from his official duties in response to his current state.
This includes his roles as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, which are all significant positions that can’t be vacant.

Ngelale emphasized the importance of family and well-being during this challenging time, noting that the decision was not taken lightly nor was it an easy step to take.
He stated, “While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home.”
While no specific timeline for his return was provided, Ngelale expressed hope for resuming his duties when circumstances allow, meaning all the chaos is being settled with no drama.
He also respectfully requested privacy for his family during this period.
