Rapper Quavo is facing a lawsuit filed by Louisiana artist Lamont London, known as L.Mont, who claims that Quavo stole the concept for his 2018 hit song “Bubble Gum” from a track L.Mont shared with him in 2016 as an assistance to upgrade.
According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, L.Mont alleges that after opening for Migos in New Orleans, he handed Quavo a CD featuring his own track, also titled “Bubble Gum,” hoping to collaborate in the future.
L.Mont claims the 2015 track was a “bouncy NOLA-style” song, and he immediately recognized similarities when Quavo released his “Bubble Gum” song on his debut solo album “Quavo Hunch” in 2018.
L.Mont alleges that Quavo copied the lyrics, arrangement, and melody, leaving only the candy-themed title unchanged.

He is now seeking damages for the millions of plays the song has received.
Quavo and his team have yet to respond to the allegations, but the lawsuit raises concerns about fair dealings in the music industry.
Fans of both artists may be disappointed by the accusations, as L.Mont likely expected collaboration and growth, not legal battles.
The case is now in the hands of the courts, and its outcome could have significant implications for both parties.
