Rema Donates ₦105m to Edo Church, Recalls Their Support During His Family’s Tough Times

Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has donated 105 million naira to a Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State, as a gesture of gratitude for the support the church provided to his family after his father’s death.

The donation was made on Sunday, September 1, 2024, during a church service where Rema expressed his deep appreciation for the role the church played during his family’s challenging times.

Speaking at the event, Rema recounted,

“When I was eight and lost my dad, we felt very lost and abandoned. All that we had was taken from us, and we felt very alone.

I remember at the time, Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, opened a shop for my mom, and that was how she managed to take care of us.”

He continued, “I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. The church has embraced me, prayed for me, and kept me consistent with my spirit.”

Rema’s donation includes₦40 million for the church’s infrastructure,₦20 million for Rhapsody of Realities,₦25 million for the infrastructure of the teen’s church, and another₦20 million dedicated to widows in the church.

His generosity highlights the importance of the church’s role in supporting those in need, a message that encourages other faith communities to continue sowing seeds of kindness, regardless of the potential for future rewards.
