Reno Omokri has taken aim at Peter Obi, criticizing his call for the Federal Government to explain how funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidies are being spent.
Obi, in a recent interview, emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, urging the government to clearly outline the projects being financed with the savings.
He argued that if subsidies have been removed, Nigerians deserve to know where the funds are being directed, especially as the nation’s debt and cost of living continue to rise.
Omokri, however, accused Obi of hypocrisy.
He pointed out that Obi, during his time as Governor of Anambra, failed to demonstrate the same level of transparency he now demands from the Federal Government.
Omokri stated, “This is rich coming from a man who cannot even track his own campaign spending from donations made by Nigerians in the diaspora.”
He further alleged that Obi placed state funds in a bank where he had controlling interests, benefiting personally at the state’s expense.
Omokri also referenced the Pandora Papers, which implicated Obi in offshore financial dealings, saying,
“A man who hid suspicious funds away in offshore accounts is not in a position to pontificate as if he is a saint.”
He questioned Obi’s moral standing to demand transparency from others when, according to Omokri, he has not been fully transparent with his own party or in handling state government funds.
