Seven Storey Building Gutted By Fire In Lagos

On August 16, 2024, a fire broke out at a seven-story building on Sanni Adewale Street in the Lagos Island Local Government Area.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service received a distress call at 5:17 a.m. Firefighters from Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations swiftly responded, arriving at the scene by 05:33 hours.

The fire affected several shops within the building, but thanks to the quick response of the firefighters, the situation was brought under control.

According to the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical surge.

Ventilation efforts are ongoing to ensure safety in the area. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, and the authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent further incidents.
