At least 10 people were injured when a fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus overturned on its side within the dedicated BRT lane along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway near Iyana-Ipaja on the morning of August 23.
The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m., leaving passengers in distress as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported the accident on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating,
“A fully loaded high-capacity bus fell on its side inside the dedicated lane (BRT lane) with a record of 10 casualties (victims), which they were taken care of.”
The injured passengers were quickly transported to nearby healthcare facilities for treatment, although the extent of their injuries remains unclear.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. However, the incident serves as a reminder for drivers to regularly check their vehicles and adhere to traffic regulations.
