Two men have been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Tse Wende, Adam village, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, escalating concerns over rising insecurity in the region.
The victims, identified as Terwsse Azege and Orseer Kende, were killed on Thursday, October 3, 2024, according to a local resident, Fabian Terseer, who expressed deep frustration over the ongoing attacks.
“We have not rested over the issue of armed herders… Just yesterday in my village, they struck and killed Terwsse Azege and Orseer Kende,” he lamented.
The recent killings underscore the need for stronger and more coordinated security measures in Benue State as the community continues to grapple with frequent herdsmen attacks.
Moreover, local authorities have been called upon to take immediate action to prevent further loss of life and property.
The state government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, faces growing pressure to improve security in affected areas and deliver on his mandate to protect citizens, especially in rural communities vulnerable to such violence.
Furthermore, residents have urged the government to investigate and uproot the suspected herdsmen from the area.
“This killer epidemic needs to be addressed quickly before another attack occurs,” said Terseer, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures.
With the economy already placing a heavy burden on the community, additional threats to life and property only deepen the strain on local residents.
