A 16-year-old football player from Goodrich High School in Michigan, Eric Kilburn Jr., has officially set two Guinness World Records for having the largest feet and hands of any living teenager.
Standing at 6-foot-10, Kilburn’s feet measure an astounding 13½ inches, equating to a size 23 in men’s shoes, while his hands span 9.13 inches.
Despite the challenges he faced due to his size, Kilburn has maintained a positive outlook, saying,
“People are usually amazed and feel comfortable starting conversations with me about the size of my feet and hands.
I meet lots of interesting people this way.”
However, Kilburn’s size posed serious difficulties in his everyday life, including finding shoes that fit. For two years, he had to rely on Crocs, even in snowy Michigan weather, causing painful calluses and blisters.
Custom-made shoes would have cost his family over $1,500, creating a financial strain.
Fortunately, his story garnered attention, and several shoemakers, including Under Armour and Reebok, with the help of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, stepped up to provide him with shoes that fit.
Moreover, Kilburn’s experience has inspired him to give back.
With the support of his mother, he founded the Big Shoe Network, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping individuals with unique sizes find clothing and footwear.
“I want to help people the same way I was helped when I needed it,” Kilburn said.
He encourages others to embrace their differences, stating,
“It’s okay to stand out. Don’t let negativity distract you from your goals.”
