Recently, former US President Donald Trump revealed a very intimate story about how his youngest son, Barron Trump, responded to the devastating information that his father had been the target of an assassination attempt.
Speaking to Fox News’ Mark Levin, Trump recounted the moment when Barron, who was in the middle of a tennis lesson, was informed that his father had been shot during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
“He’s a good tennis player,” Trump stated before describing how someone rushed to Barron with the terrifying news, shouting, “Barron! Barron! Your father’s been shot!”
Trump revealed that his 18-year-old son reacted with immediate concern, rushing to find his mother, Melania Trump.
“He loves his father. He’s a good kid, good student, good athlete actually — and he ran, ‘Mom! What’s going on? What’s going on?’” Trump said.
Melania, who had been watching the rally live on television, was equally shocked by the events unfolding before her eyes.
Trump recalled how he quickly reassured the public by raising his fist in the air after being tackled to the ground by Secret Service agents, letting everyone know he was unharmed.
“I let people know I was OK. But it was a hit, it was a big hit.”
The incident has left a lasting impact on the Trump family, particularly on Melania, who Trump said struggles to even talk about the event.
“She can’t even talk about it, which is okay because that means she likes me,” he added with a touch of humor.
As federal agencies continue their investigation into how 20-year-old sniper Thomas Matthew Crooks managed to evade security and open fire on the former president, Trump’s reflections highlight the deep bond he shares with his family.
The love and support from his wife and son, Trump suggests, have been a crucial source of strength in navigating the challenges he faces.
This ordeal serves as a reminder to all public officials about the importance of maintaining strong family ties, especially in times of crisis.
